Serving Active Duty Troops and Retirees from All Branches of the Armed Forces

TREA Memorial Foundation Board of Trustees

A Board with over 175 years of military service knows how to Help Our Troops!

The staff and volunteers at the Retired Enlisted Association Memorial Foundation could do very little without the help we get from the thousands of supporters who help make our work possible. YOU make the work the Board and staff do possible. THANK YOU!

William B. De Boer, Sr. served twenty eight years in the U.S. Air Force and now lives in Colorado Springs with his wife, Alice. Bill serves as the current Chairman of the TREA Memorial Foundation and is a long time Retired Enlisted Association (TREA) member. While the position of Chairman means Bill’s plate is very full, he somehow manages to also serve as Treasurer for TREA’s Colorado Springs Chapter. As if all that is not enough, Bill also performs volunteer work at the pharmacy on a nearby Air Force Base where he is in constant contact with wounded Iraq vets, active duty military, their families and the military personnel who help those families when the need arises. This gives Bill a tremendous insight into what vets and military families need, and how the foundation can best meet these needs. Bill, along with all the Foundation Board members, is not compensated in any way and volunteers hundreds of hours a year in an effort to serve military families.

Thelma Hairston is the wife of a 20 year USAF veteran, a former information services librarian, former parliamentarian for the Association, and an active member of her church as well as the Retired Enlisted Association Women’s Auxiliary. Thelma has a special interest in emergency family assistance and making sure the Foundation is able to provide it.

Julius Orsak retired as a Master Sergeant after serving 22 years in the U.S. Army and is active in both TREA and the VFW. Julius has a grandson who is currently stationed in Iraq and, like Ed Cates, is able to help the Foundation because of this personal knowledge of the difficulties facing those serving there and veterans of the conflict.

Jack Cotton is a jazz fan and New Hampshire president who is a former National President of The Retired Enlisted Association and an Air Force veteran with 20 years of service. While owning and operating his own business, Jack has somehow managed to find the time to serve the Association in a variety of positions. Like Robert Holtz, Jack’s goal is that the Foundation be able to serve all military families who are in need of help.

Ed Cates served 30 years in the USAF and his goal, as a member of the Foundation’s board is to increase the visibility of the Memorial’s programs among both active duty and retired members of the military. While Ed works a full time job in Colorado and also volunteers with the American Red Cross, he is an active member of the Board and is especially interested in helping Iraq veterans, since he has a family member who recently returned from a tour of duty in Iraq.

Marvin A. Stout lives in California and is also an USAF retiree who served 30 years before retiring. He holds and has held a number of key positions in the Retired Enlisted Association including Treasurer.

Robert Holtz is another active military retiree with 22 years of service. Besides enjoying his RV, Robert works with Volunteers of America and does volunteer work at Buckley Air Force Base. His goal for the TREA Memorial Foundation is that it be able to help all military personnel and their dependents who are in need of assistance.

David Summarell lives in South Dakota and is an active member of the Association. As a board member of the Foundation, he is especially interested in providing educational opportunities to both returning Iraq veterans and members of their families. David has taken on a variety of responsibilities within TREA and, like all board members, he volunteers his time and receives no compensation for his work.
